New Outbound Link Penalty Warnings from Google

It appears that Google has sent out a mass of outbound link warnings to websites that are doing “unnatural and irrelevant linking” to other websites. From what I’ve read, many of the websites getting the notice are involved with affiliate marketing or product reviews, or linking between other bloggers. And it looks like the website in question receives a manual penalty that requires reconsideration from Google to be lifted.

It seems that Google is trying to get people to clean up their act with use of nofollow on marketing and affiliated links or linking schemes between blogs, which is a good thing. Google’s Webmaster Guidelines are pretty clear regarding link schemes.
